New design features of the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport
Ever willing to expand its brand’s reach and influence, Volkswagen has debuted a new vehicle strategy for 2020, doubling down on its existing SUVs to create trims that are more geared to customers who want the same performance of a VW with a sportier, sleeker, sedan-esque design. The result of this for the new model year is the all-new Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport, a chic yet aggressive take on the classic five-seater SUV philosophy.
Our Janesville VW team was able to get a first look at this brand-new model, and we invite you to come in and check it out with us. Come see the new design features of the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport today!
2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport exterior and interior styling
The Cross Sport has been built to exude a much sportier vibe than its Atlas big brother, with a steep rear pillar and rear hatch. Also, new lights and a sculpted bumper give it a more chiseled appearance, as do new 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and a distinctive 3-bar grille.
We touched on this earlier, but the new Cross Sport will also prove to be much more compact inside than the Atlas, though still very roomy and versatile. You’ll have seating for five passengers and room for up to 77.8 cubic feet of cargo space – all seats are heated, and you’ll also have a new heated, leather steering wheel to work with!
Drivetrain and tech features of the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport
As with the rest of its brothers in the VW lineup, the 2020 Atlas Cross Sport will be one of the savviest crossovers in recent memory. It’ll offer wireless device charging, a 12-speaker Fender Premium Audio System, and a Car-Net hotspot that provides LTE-speed internet to all devices inside. In addition, the Atlas Cross Sport will bring two new driver assistance technologies (Traffic Jam Assist and Dynamic Road Sign Display) to the table on top of its existing innovations – altogether, this makes it one of the most intuitive SUVs in recent memory.
All this new style and tech is driven by an ultra-powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine, also seen on the Atlas. It can churn out up to 276 horsepower, all while being able to tow upwards of 5,000 pounds! The Cross Sport will also bring a familiar 8-speed transmission into the fold, along with 4MOTION® All-Wheel Drive – quite frankly, we can’t wait to see it in action.
