The base 2022 VW Jetta models come with the same 1.5-liter turbocharged, direct-injection TSI® engine as the 2022 Volkswagen Taos compact SUV. This engine features Volkswagen’s modified version of the Miller cycle, where the intake valves are closed early in the induction stroke, which helps improve fuel economy. The engine also has a very high compression ratio of up to 11.5:1. All this results in a combination of low-speed torque and lower fuel consumption.

Coming to the 2022 Jetta GLI. It comes with a 2.0-liter engine that can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission.
