What’s new with the Volkswagen Passat line?

2020 Volkswagen Passat release date and new features

Just like the computer industry, which has seen the speed of its microprocessors (and quality of its displays) increase exponentially in the last few decades, the automotive industry has seen its various vehicles skyrocket in innovation, smart performance and design. In the last 20 years, vehicles have transformed themselves to be more powerful and savvy than ever before, and in the mid-size sedan industry, the Volkswagen Passat is leading the charge. It was introduced for the 2020 model year earlier this week at the Detroit Auto Show, and we invite you to join Janesville VW as we check out its release date and new features.

The 2020 Passat is slated for a North American release in the summer of 2019, so to get you ready for its arrival, we’ll take you through all its best paces below!

Performance Features and Specs on the 2020 VW Passat

Under the hood, the 2020 Passat will feature the same 2.0-liter TSI® turbocharged engine as in years prior, but it will come with some serious power upgrades. You’ll be in line for up to 207 pound-feet of torque (thanks to a new torque converter and added software), which creates plenty of off-the-line speed and promises to reinforce the fun-to-drive aura that the Passat carries with it.

Exterior and Interior Designs of the 2020 VW Passat

Much has gone into making the 2020 Passat more attractive in the eyes of most automotive consumers – its completely redesigned exterior includes a coupe-like roof, slim LED headlights and taillights, prominent badging, and available 19-inch wheels to wrap up the package.

Stepping inside will prove to be an even more comfortable experience than you might expect from the Passat. Depending on the trim, it will offer V-Tex leatherette and Nappa leather seating surfaces for you to relax on, as well as plenty of convenience to spare. This is thanks to dual-zone Climatronic® automatic climate control, heated side mirrors, and heated seats. It all adds up to a driving experience that can tailor quickly and easily to the varied climate that Wisconsin is famous for.

Tech and Safety Features of the 2020 VW Passat

Of course, the 2020 Passat will also be a class leader when it comes to tech innovation. Each model will come standard with Volkswagen Car-Net® App-Connect technology, connection to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink®, and high-quality media streaming thanks to a top-end Fender® Premium Audio System. All the while, the 2020 Passat will introduce the following driver assistance features, all of which are able to keep you safe from any and all harm:

  • Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Emergency Braking
  • Blind Spot Monitor
  • Rear Traffic Alert
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Parking Steering Assistant
  • Many more!
